Frequently asked questions
This is where we answer a lot of your questions.
Are all La Parisienne products biodegradable?
Laundry detergents, liquid fabric softeners, dishwashing liquids and dishwasher tablets are biodegradable. However, La Parisienne bleach and fabric softener sheets are not. In fact, the composition of these household cleaning products keeps them from being biodegradable, whether they’re part of La Parisienne’s brand or not.
Why aren’t La Parisienne biodegradable products sold in bottles made of biodegradable plastic?
To qualify as biodegradable, plastics must be decomposable by microorganisms while in contact with oxygen in the air. However, there’s so much waste in landfill sites that plastics wouldn’t come into contact with enough oxygen to decompose. It would therefore be a mistake to send biodegradable plastic bottles to landfill sites.
Instead, La Parisienne advocates for recycling and reusing containers in order to keep its promise to protect the planet.
Do La Parisienne household cleaning products have an expiration date?
Laundry detergents, fabric softeners both liquid and sheets , dish soap and dishwasher detergent tablets have a shelf life of approximately 2 years from their date of manufacture depending on storage conditions. Variations in temperature and time can affect their initial properties.
For its part, multi-purpose bleach should ideally be used within 12 months of its manufacture.
Are La Parisienne household cleaning products tested on animals?
No. Protecting the environment also means choosing not to test our products on animals. They never have been and never will be, under any circumstances. Period!
Laundry detergents
How do HE or any-machine laundry detergents work differently?
The water level in the wash and rinse cycles is lower in HE washers. While regular laundry detergents are designed to foam and dissolve properly in a higher water build-up, HE laundry detergents are adapted to a smaller amount of water. They dissolve faster and produce less foam. Therefore, to avoid big messes and potential damage, it’s very important to use only HE detergents in HE washers (or a detergent that is specifically designed for all machines).
On the other hand, HE laundry detergents can be used safely in conventional washers.
Fabric softeners
I sometimes notice stains on my clothes after using liquid fabric softener. What can I do to remove them?
To remove fabric softener stains from clothes, simply return them to the washer and restart a cycle.
However, since we don't want this to happen to you again, we suggest you follow these two quick tips before your next laundry session. First, check your fabric softener dispenser to make sure it’s clean, and wash it if necessary. Second, dilute concentrated fabric softener liquids with fresh water directly in the dispenser to reduce residue build-up and ensure better distribution of the softener on your clothes. If the residue is flushed out and the fabric softener is better distributed, stains can be avoided.
Remember that La Parisienne’s liquid fabric softeners must be used in the washing machine’s dispenser or added to the water during the rinse cycle.
Bleach
Is La Parisienne Bleach available in a concentrated formula?
Yes, the composition of La Parisienne Bleach was modified in 2021 to increase the ratio of active ingredients to water volume. This makes the bleach more powerful and reduces the dose needed for each load. The concentrated bleach is offered in a more compact container. The number of uses stays the same for you, but for us, it means much less water used in the manufacturing process and a reduction in packaging material. It's a win-win-win: for you, for your clothes and for the environment!
Dishwasher tablets
Are the boxes for dishwasher detergent tablets made from recycled fibre?
The boxes are made of 90% recycled fibre. Basically, our dishwasher detergent tablets are in good hands.
Is the dye in the dishwasher detergent tablets environmentally friendly?
The dyes we use are food-grade and are recognized as environmentally friendly by the OECD.
